Eagle Scout candidate Logan Kuniyuki of Troop 7 recently coordinated an Eagle project to improve the Hawaii Island Humane Society dog park in Keaau.

Improvements to the Keaau Bark Park, located at 16-873 Keaau-Pahoa Road, included the addition of new picnic tables, benches, a bulletin board, pooper scoopers and a water spigot.

“A big thank you to (the) terrific people and businesses who helped me on my journey to ‘fly with the eagles,’” Kuniyuki said. “Together, we improved the Bark Park at the Keaau Hawaii Island Humane Society.”

Troop 7 is sponsored by the Keaukaha Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and consists of young men from Keaukaha and Panaewa.

Kuniyuki invites dog owners to visit the Bark Park and enjoy the new improvements.

The hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Saturday. The park is closed Sunday and holidays.
